The Butchart gardens are one of the most beautiful and well managed gardens in North America. There’s a good reason why they’re top of the list for most of the cruises and tourists coming to visit. The gardens are large and you’ll want a couple of hours set aside for the visit. Getting out there also takes a bit of time, so keep that in mind too.
The gardens change year round, so there’s many different experiences to be had. The summer months give the most impressive flower displays, especially with a large rose garden! They do a really great job of decorating the gardens for Christmas, with gorgeous lights of different kinds everywhere, and your journey taking you through the 12 days of Christmas.
Diversity is one of the main positives of the gardens too, with different styles of gardens and different species of fauna in different areas of the gardens. The price is pretty steep, but if you love gardens and/or nature, it’s worth it.
Tips: If the price is off-putting, a really nice, but much smaller version to do for free is the Abkhazi Gardens. Their tea house is also excellent!
